The Desire Map \/\/TOP\\\\

11/15/2013LaPorte (The Fire Starter Sessions) revisits the traditional list of objectives that people typically make (such as career goals or a bucket list), instead asking readers to consider the feelings they're trying to experience as a result of attaining these goals. In the first half of the book, she describes how readers can achieve these feelings, while in the second part, she sketches designs for desire maps that encompass areas such as body and wellness, livelihood and lifestyle, creativity and learning, relationships and society, and essence and spirituality. LaPorte's writing style is stream of consciousness, which would be distracting if not for the bolded highlights and large-type summaries. VERDICT Though this title isn't for everyone, it would be ideal for women's study groups.

The Desire Map

My core desired feelings are: connection, radiant, alive, and passion. Based on these feelings, I defined my intentions and goals for the year and was excited (and a little surprised) with what came up for me by putting these feelings first.

As Danielle recommended in the book, I try to recite my core desired feelings as a mantra every morning so that I have a clear intention of how I want to feel during the day. And I let them guide my to-do list, actions, and decisions throughout the day. Danielle also has some great follow-up worksheets (in the book and on her website) so that you can define your weekly to-do list based on those core desired feelings.

We learned so clearly in 2020 that we cannot simply rely on the circumstances of the world to help us feel the way we want to feel. So what if you get clear on how you want to feel inside first, and then design your to-do lists, set goals, and make resolutions based on the desires of your heart?

Your bucket list. Quarterly objectives. Strategic plans. Big dreams. Goals. Lots of goals and plans to achieve those goals--no matter what. Except ... You're not chasing the goal itself, you're actually chasing the feeling that you hope achieving that goal will give you. Which means we have the procedures of achievement upside down. We go after the stuff we want to have, get, or accomplish, and we hope that we'll be fulfilled when we get there. It's backwards. And it's burning us out. So what if you first got clear on how you actually wanted to feel in your life, and then created some "Goals with Soul"? With The Desire Map, Danielle LaPorte brings you a holistic life-planning tool that will revolutionize the way you go after what you want in life. Unapologetically passionate and with plenty of warm wit, LaPorte turns the concept of ambition inside out and offers an inspired, refreshingly practical workbook for using the Desire Map process: Identify your "core desired feelings" in every life domain: livelihood & lifestyle, body & wellness, creativity & learning, relationships & society, and essence & spirituality- Create practical "Goals with Soul" to generate your core desired feelings- Why easing up on your expectations actually liberates you to reach your goals- Self-assessment quizzes, worksheets, and complete Desire Mapping tools for creating the life you truly long forGoal-setting just got a makeover. There are more than 10,000 "Desire Mappers" who have worked through this system. "Every day I get stories about inner clarity, quitting jobs, dumping the chump, renewing vows, pole-dancing classes, writing memoirs, moving on," says Danielle. "This is about liberation. And pleasure. And self-determination. This is about doing much less proving, and way more living." If you've had enough of trying to trick yourself into happiness through affirmations or bucket-listing your hopes into some distant future, then you're ready for The Desire Map--a dream-fulfilling system that harnesses your soul-deep desire to feel good.

Relationship is sucking. I feel constricted. I feel powerless. I could go on, but my core desired feelings tell me that I want to feel connected and I want to feel adoring, etc., etc. What am I going to do to do that this year within that relationship?

On our retreats we are mixing Desire mapping with adventure, mind, body and soul pampering, OHHHhh Yeh. In Bali you will get to climb an active volcano, witness a stunning sunrise whilst meditating, visit holy places and immerse yourself with your truest desires, goals and feeling. What do you really want out of life?

They are all over the place, informal paths. OSM-Carto renders them indistinguishable from maintained hiking paths and distinguishable from paved footways only, when somebody tells you, what to look at. They clutter the woods/recreation areas/&c. Routers always use the, because that saves 5m walk. How about a separate highway=desire key to tag those desire lines?

(nowadays I am even less sure whether it was a good idea, but highway=path was definitely a bad idea in the first place as it includes everything from unpaved trails, desire paths and mixed paved cycleway-footways and supposedly also things that are not paths at all like winter-only snowmobile trails)

Having read the Wikipedia article, I dare say, the left hand path in the photo above is a true desire line. But I do not think I still get what else informal could mean? Even on the desire line, the intention is clear: to get from A to B; which is not the intention to create a path. WP suggests, it is about distance - shortcuts are mentioned. Are desire lines always straight, never winding, except for obstacles? 041b061a72
